Food Festival - Part 2
We're back! And what a time we had. I did take the boys with me, and that was useful, especially for the tasting of hot and spicy items, since my youngest son has an iron stomach, at 12 years old. Anything spicy, he will eat it! Oh unless it is eggs, or has beans or mushrooms in it, heehee! So, any reviews included here on spicy products, will be his words. Thank you son!
The food festival is held in a marquee
next to the Greenfields Farm Shop
The Marquee isn't huge and I don't think there were more than 24 stalls in there today. So this is by no means a mega food festival. But concentrating on the local suppliers of excellent local foods, this is a fantastic little festival to visit. On the same car park as the farm shop is the Wyevale garden centre. If you know the area, the farm shop used to be where the garden centre is now, but when the original shop burnt down, they sold some land to the garden centre in order to finance replacing the shop. And we have a much better farm shop now than we did back then.
Let's see, where shall we start? Well, the boys and I walked up one side of the marquee and back down the other side, so why don't you join us. . . .
The first stall we came across was one of the sausage suppliers. These are quite unusual, being based on Wild Board and also Venison. This company also makes hand raised pork pies, and burgers of the same flavours as the sausages. Take a peak with us while we taste . . (please excuse the arm across one of the photos, it was quite busy in there today!)
Do you think they're enjoying those samples. here we go with the flavours, before I come back to see which the boys liked best.

I did like the wild boar sausage, but my personal favourite was the Venison with Cranberries. I know some of my American friends eat deer meat quite a bit because their husbands hunt, but over here it is not common unless you're living in a really rural area. I have had a venison steak once, and did enjoy it.
My 12 year old preferred the wild boar and apricot and my 15 year old thought the venison and black pepper was best.
I'm not 100% certain of the supplier on that one, but if I get back up there tomorrow (yes the festival runs two days) then I will make a note of that.
