My Photo
Name: UKZoe
Location: Shropshire, United Kingdom

This is me. I work 10 hours a week in the office at our church, but other than that I am a stay at home mom. (for now at least). I am a sinner saved by grace. What does that mean? I MESS UP! Big time, mess ups, small mess ups, but I mess up, I sin. And I have the privilege of coming to God, having Him wipe the slate clean. And when I start again, it is not me starting again, it is me starting for the first time, BECAUSE OF WHAT HE DID!

Food Festival Part 2

Too much stuff and too many photos to put it all in one post!
So, continue down the marquee with us . . .

CHEESE!
Award winning cheese at that!
Mr Moyden's Handmade Cheese. We tasted three of them.
Wrekin White, named after a local hill, is a nice cheese, handmade and is an original specialty cheese; the rind is brushed with the finest extra virgin olive oil and matured to allow its flavour to intensify creating a firm, aromatic cheese with a smooth creamy texture and nutty aftertaste.
Newport, named after a local Shropshire market town where it is made. Matured for around three months, Newport cheese has a unique flavour derived from the pastures where Grove Farm’s cows graze during the spring, summer and autumn.
This was indeed a more mature cheese and very tasty, I think we all enjoyed that.
Our firm favourite, all round was the smoked version of the Newport, which is their newest award winner. They don't have it on their website yet so I can't tell you for sure which organisation awarded the prize. And finally a Mr Moyden's Cheese we didn't try, the Little Aston. Named after a local village, a handmade soft cheese. It is delicate, with a mild, creamy taste that may also present the sharp notes typical of a fresh cheese. In appearance it can be distinguished by its band of golden cheese curd sandwiched between two white curd layers.
I think the picture on their website shows it better than the one I took, let me link to that:

Next, down the marquee there are cookies and fudge from the Country Fudge company.
They have two ranges of fudge, the basic flavours: Vanilla, Chocolate, Apple, Cappuccino and Strawberry. They also have a luxury range, which I don't have a picture of, but the flavours include Lemon and ginger which I tried, and was quite surprised by how nice it was, mango and orange, chocolate lavender and, the award winning chocolate chilli. This won a runner up position in the "best new product" category in the Good Housekeeping 2007 food awards.
